DeNoise is an application designed to assist in the reduction of continuous noise.
DeNoise is an application for reducing continuous noise in audio files, typically those produced by digitizing vinyl (LP) and shellac records, or magnetic tape. The most common form of such noise is commonly heard as hiss, particularly from shellac records and magnetic tape sources.
DeNoise works with mono or stereo sound files up to 96kHz. This includes standard CD and DAT formats. It is designed to run automatically once appropriate settings have been chosen. It is also possible to pause the program at any time so as to perform re-processing with different settings.
The DeNoise application works in the frequency domain, dividing the incoming audio stream into 80 overlapping frames per second, and transforming each such frame into 1024 equally spaced frequency bands (2048 if the sample rate exceeds 48kHz).
The files must be uncompressed stereo or mono, in either “WAVE” or “AIFF” format (16-bit or 24-bit). The output file will automatically be in the same format as the input file.
